Calling Maitland seniors to help shape the 2025 Seniors Festival

Maitland City Council is inviting seniors from across the city to share their ideas and help shape the 2025 Maitland Seniors Festival, scheduled from Monday 3 to Sunday 16 March 2025.

The festival, themed ‘Time to Shine’, will celebrate the contributions, achievements and vibrancy of seniors in the Maitland community.

To ensure their voices are heard, seniors can participate in a survey launching today on the Maitland Your Say website, giving them the opportunity to influence the festival’s design and direction.

‘The 2025 Maitland Seniors Festival is all about celebrating and recognising the vital role our seniors play in our community,’ says Maitland City Council Coordinator Community and Recreation Planning Whitney Hainey.

‘We want to hear directly from seniors about what would make this event special for them. Whether it’s activities that foster social connection or new experiences that help seniors shine, their feedback is essential in creating a festival that reflects their needs and interests.’

The festival is part of a NSW wide celebration and offers a variety of activities designed to promote social inclusion and wellbeing, with seniors taking centre stage to share their stories, talents and experiences.

‘Last year, we saw a strong interest in music related activities, and we’re excited to build on that momentum for 2025,’ says Ms Hainey.

‘We encourage everyone to take part by completing the online survey or contacting the Community Planning Team directly to share their ideas.’

Seniors can provide input via the online survey, available on Maitland Your Say from Friday 27 September to Thursday 24 October 2024.
