Dive into the fun this Australia Day in Maitland

Maitland is the place to be this Australia Day, offering a fun-filled program for the whole family, including the return of Dive in Cinema.

The celebrations begin with a free BBQ breakfast at Maitland Park from 7.30am to 9.30am, featuring live entertainment, including the City of Maitland Pipes and Drums, and family-friendly activities such as inflatable sports games, classic car displays, a petting zoo and face painting. Throughout the day, cool off with free entry to both Maitland and East Maitland Aquatic Centres from 10am to 4pm.

At 10.30am, the Australia Day Official Ceremony will take place at Maitland Town Hall, where the city will welcome its newest citizens and celebrate the strong community spirit of Maitland residents.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold says, “Australia Day in Maitland is a time to come together and celebrate our community spirit.

“We’re excited to welcome our newest citizens and honour the people who make this city such a wonderful place to live.”

As the sun sets, the fun continues with the return of the popular Dive in Cinema at Maitland Aquatic Centre from 5pm. Enjoy a double feature of iconic Australian films with Babe (G) at 5.30pm and Blueback (PG) at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the Dive in Cinema are $5 per person for poolside seating and $10 per person for in-pool. Tickets can be purchased online at mait.city/DiveIn2025.

“The return of our Dive in Cinema is always a highlight of the day, and this year’s double feature promises to be a great way to end the celebrations.

“From a free BBQ breakfast to welcoming our newest citizens and wrapping up with the Dive in Cinema, this program is all about bringing the community together to celebrate,” says Mayor Penfold.
