Have your say: Tripling the size of Maitland Park Playspace
Maitland City Council is seeking community feedback on plans to triple the size of the Maitland Park Playspace.
Council has endorsed an initial concept plan to develop a larger, fit for purpose playspace that’s more inclusive, accessible and creative.
The plan sees the existing playspace grow from 0.2ha to 0.6ha (1.5 acres) with new elements added including a splash and water play area, more shade, all-abilities play equipment and additional parking.
Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold says the new facility ‘will be a significant improvement on the existing playground.’
‘We’re planning to triple the size of Maitland Park Playspace and add new elements for all ages and abilities including nature and water play areas, a kids bike area and new play equipment plus plenty of shade,’ Mayor Penfold said.
‘This plan is based on previous community feedback about playgrounds and now, we’re asking locals to have their say again and help us shape the final designs for this project.’
While currently unfunded, Maitland Council is progressing the design phase of this project to ensure it’s ready for future opportunities.
The community can provide feedback on the initial concept plan via the online survey until Sunday 8 December 2024 or visit Maitland Park Playspace for a pop up session from 10.00am Saturday 23 November 2024.
