Locals invited to help re-imagine Maitland
The new My Place Grants Program supports cheap, quick and fun projects for residents to create places where people feel connected, want to stay longer and have a memorable experience.
The program, which is open to anyone, aims to build networks, trial new ideas and transform public places in and around the city. The end result will be a more vibrant, safer and inclusive Maitland for everyone to enjoy.
Council’s Place Activation Officer Amber Herrmann says, ‘Council will offer funding between $500 and $8,000 and we are looking for ideas that engage audiences and create a unique experience for anyone visiting that part of Maitland.’
The projects Council is looking to support will take on the philosophy of ‘lighter, quicker, cheaper’, understanding that big change and impact is possible with these kind of projects that prototype and test new ideas.
‘We want to fund projects that are easy to implement and community driven, are unique and innovative, give people a reason to stay in the space longer, reflect the unique character of the place and are publicly accessible,’ said Ms Herrmann.
