Maitland set to ‘shine’ with 2025 Seniors Festival program

Maitland’s seniors can expect a fortnight of fun for this year's NSW Seniors Festival, with Maitland City Council unveiling a jam-packed activity program for 2025.

Proudly co-funded by the NSW Government, the festival is a statewide initiative running from Monday 3 to Sunday 16 March 2025 and this year’s theme is ‘Time to Shine.’

The key highlight of Maitland’s program is the Rock, Roll & Shine: Seniors Lunch and Show event on Sunday 9 March at Maitland Town Hall, where attendees can step back in time and enjoy two hours of tunes from the 50s and 60s as well as a delicious lunch.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold says the festival is “an opportunity for seniors to connect and enjoy a range of exciting activities throughout our community.”

“Whether you’re interested in art or cultural exhibitions, exercise classes or catching up for morning tea, there’s something on for everyone. We encourage Maitland’s seniors to take advantage of the wide range of free and low-cost events happening this March.”

Another key event is the Time to Shine: Seniors Discover & Connect Expo which is a free event that will be held at Town Hall on Saturday 15 March, giving seniors the chance to connect with local service providers and explore opportunities to enhance their wellbeing. The Expo will have light refreshments and tabletop games for seniors to enjoy.

Seniors can also enjoy free entry to Maitland and East Maitland Aquatic Centres, including recreational swimming and aqua fitness classes, for the duration of the festival.
