Making Maitland a smart city
This week I was lucky enough to attend the Smart Cities and Infrastructure Forum in Melbourne.
The forum is all about bringing representatives from government agencies, councils and various industries together to discuss strategies that can give you ideas on how best to help our city transform into a smart city.
There were some impressive speakers including the Lord Mayor of Newcastle Nuatali Nelmes, Federal Member for Scullun Andrew Giles as well as a range of other experts across a variety of fields. Along with the presenters, I also met so many interesting people with very diverse backgrounds who are undertaking some progressive programs in their area.
I learnt a lot about how intelligent technologies and applications can really benefit residents, businesses and planners, and I hope this is something that we as a city can embrace. Advances in technology means there are always new things to learn and it would be remiss of us not to take advantage of it as much as we can.
Christmas at The Levee
Christmas is well and truly in the air with just over five weeks to go before the big day. To get us all in the mood, The Levee’s decorations have been installed this week and Council’s free Santa photos have commenced.
The Levee is a wonderful spot for our Christmas activities and there are some exciting events happening from now and into December, so to find out what’s on and when, go to The Levee website.
