About IGA Laneway
We’re painting a new picture of Maitland and the canvas is the streets, laneways, parks and gateways that exist between the historic structures of our city.
In late 2019, Maitland City Council invited creatives to help activate and unlock the 'Unmet Potential' of the laneway on Lawes Street, next to East Maitland IGA plus Liquor. Unfortunately, COVID-19 impacted the delivery of this project however, together with Studio John Fish, Council has now implemented this laneway activation.
Guided by Council's Place Activation Strategy, this project aims to increase use of this public space by adding vibrancy and colour to reflect the cultural identity of our City's people and personality.
