An application to temporarily lift the Alcohol Free Zone (AFZ) in the Riverside Car Park, River Walk from the Belmore Bridge east to, Cathedral Street, Drill Hall Lane and Preschool Lane including Car Park in Maitland CBD to aid the delivery of New Year’s Eve has been put on a 28-days public exhibition.

Friday 31 December 2021 – 3.00pm until 9.30pm.
New Year’s Eve
Each year families from across Maitland flock to the banks of the Hunter River to enjoy new year with food, fun and fireworks at 9.00pm. Regarded as one of the most spectacular displays of New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Hunter Region, Maitland also offers live entertainment, kids activities, festival food and plenty of room for twilight picnics.
COVID-19 Safety Plan
The Events teams are in consultation with NSW Heath and Police to develop a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Plan and will continue to monitor and adhere to the advice from Federal and State Governments, including any variation or modification of the Public Health Order.
