Description

Two applications to temporarily suspend the Alcohol Free Zone (AFZ) in a number of locations in Central Maitland has been submitted to Council to aid the delivery of.

1. Winter Warmer Mini Market

Winter Warmer Mini Market is set to occur on Saturday 31 July 2021 between 4.00pm and 8.00pm to encourage the community to visit The Levee and support the businesses within Central Maitland.

Proposed location to temporarily suspend AFZ:

  • South side of The Levee between 409 and 425 High Street, Maitland.

Date and times of proposed suspension:

  • Saturday 31 July 2021 – 4.00pm - 8.00pm

The promotion will include participation from local businesses, live entertainment and roving performers.

Up to ten stalls will be set up along the southern side of The Levee Shared Zone. It is anticipated these stalls comprise of alcoholic beverage providers, food stalls and homemade knit ware fashions.

2. Aroma Coffee and Chocolate Festival

Aroma will bring the community together to enjoy the warm aromas of freshly ground coffee beans, expert chocolatiers, talented baristas, and some of the region’s finest winemakers.

Proposed locations to temporarily suspend AFZ:

  1. St Andrews St, north of High St,
  2. Maitland Riverside Car Park,
  3. Stilsbury Lane, formerly known as Imperial Lane,
  4. Pedestrian walkway located between The Reject Shop and the former National Australia Bank building (NAB Laneway),
  5. Pedestrian walkway on the north side of High Street from NAB Laneway to western end of The Levee Shared Zone,
  6. Pedestrian walkway on the eastern side of Elgin Street, between Dransfield Lane and High Street,
  7. Dransfield Lane,
  8. Bulwer Street north of Dransfield Lane,
  9. The Levee Shared Zone (High Street) between Elgin Street and Bourke Street,
  10. The Riverside Walk from 2 St Andrews Street to Bourke Street Link inclusive of the Riverlink, and the pedestrian walkway between 420 and 418 High Street.

Dates and times of proposed suspensions:

  • Saturday 14 August 2021 - 10.00am – 9.00pm
  • Sunday 15 August 2021 - 10.00am – 3.00pm

A number of brewers, distillers and wineries will be invited to trade at the event under a pending liquor licence application.
