Maitland Animal Management Facility is where all impounded pets in Maitland are taken. We also accept animals from Cessnock and Dungog local government areas. Check our Facebook page for notification of impounded pets. If you have been notified that your pet has been impounded, please get in touch to arrange a suitable time for collection.
Central Coast Animal Care currently run the facility and organises the care and adoptions of pets.
Surrendering your pet
We understand that sometimes, people are unable to continue caring for their pet for a number of reasons. We encourage owners to try and rehome their pet, however, in some circumstances, we will accept cats and dogs in Maitland surrendered by their owners.
To do this, you will need to ensure your pet is microchipped and registered with the NSW Pet Registry. You will be charged a surrender fee, which will help Council recover the costs of housing, feeding and caring for the animal.
