Nearly $70,000 awarded in Maitland Council's first round of new look Community Grants Program

A wide range of community initiatives across Maitland stand to benefit from nearly $70,000 in funding, after councillors endorsed 23 grant applications during the last night’s council meeting.

Relaunched earlier this year, the Bi-Annual Community Grants Program is designed to support local organisations, groups and individuals in delivering projects that enhance Maitland’s social, cultural and recreational landscape.

‘The response to our Community Grants Program has been fantastic, showcasing the diverse range of projects aimed at strengthening our community,’ says Maitland City Council Manager Community and Recreation Darren Crumpler.

‘The successful applicants were chosen based on their alignment with Council’s strategic priorities, their potential to make a positive impact, and their ability to foster community engagement and participation.’

The awarded grants will support a range of initiatives, from community celebrations and child development programs to food relief services, community wellbeing and equipment upgrades.

The second round of the Community Grants Program is set to open on 1 October 2024, offering further opportunities for local groups to secure funding for their initiatives.
