What’s on in Maitland this festive season

Maitland is ready to shine this festive season with a summer events lineup that celebrates the city's vibrant spirit and community charm.

Maitland City Council has introduced ‘What’s On Maitland’, a summer calendar available on the My Maitland website, featuring a variety of free, fun and family friendly activities. This program embodies the essence of summer in Maitland, inviting both locals and visitors to engage with the city’s cultural experiences, attractions and festive events.

‘Maitland is the place to be this summer, offering an incredible range of events that unite people,’ says Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold.

‘We’re excited to offer a range of festive activities for families and visitors to enjoy and create special memories. Join us for a Christmas movie night under the stars at Maitland Regional Sportsground, free Santa photos at The Levee, exhibitions at Maitland Regional Art Gallery and a New Year’s Eve celebration by the Hunter River.’

While events are plentiful, summer is also the perfect time to extend your stay and explore Maitland.

‘From shopping and dining at The Levee Central Maitland to Free Art January at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, there’s a wide array of experiences to enjoy. Families can cool down at Maitland Aquatic Centres or participate in activities at Maitland Libraries.

‘For a leisurely day out, Morpeth and Lorn offer charming streets with boutique shopping and local eateries, while Maitland's outdoor playgrounds and parks, including the premier Harold Gregson Reserve sport and entertainment precinct, are perfect for those who want to enjoy nature and open spaces,’ says Mayor Penfold.
