Peter Bogan was a prominent local historian whose work in highlighting and preserving Maitland’s flood history is of great importance to the City. Recognised for his efforts to keep historic floods at the forefront of Maitland’s collective consciousness, he was acknowledged by the SES on the 60th anniversary of the 1955 flood for his in depth and detailed knowledge of its history. The Walk and Talk Flood Tour series, presented in collaboration with Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority, was a testament to his knowledge of Maitland’s floods and the integrity of his research.
