Pensioner concessions

As detailed in the Pensioner Concession Policy, some pensioners are eligible to receive rate concessions. Currently, the concession is limited to $250 for ordinary rates.

To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be an eligible pensioner
  2. Live in the property you are applying for
  3. Complete a Pensioner Concession Rates Rebate form.

Rates payment arrangements

If you are experiencing difficulty paying your rates by the due date, you can enter into a payment arrangement with Council to help bring your rates up to date.

Complete a rates payment arrangement application, and a Council staff member will contact you via email or phone.

Hardship

We recognise there are cases of genuine financial hardship requiring respect and compassion in special circumstances.

Council has a Hardship Policy that includes guidelines for the assessment of hardship applications applying the principles of social justice, fairness, integrity, and appropriate confidentiality which complies with relevant statutory requirements.

Concessions for community groups

The Rates Subsidy for Community Groups Policy gives Council the ability to grant an annual rate subsidy to eligible, not-for-profit community organisations that deliver benefits to the Maitland community.
