Accelerate Action in Maitland this International Women’s Day

Women in Maitland will have the chance to step forward in solidarity this International Women’s Day, as Maitland Town Hall plays host to a free morning tea and networking event.

Headlined by Australian sportswriter and TV presenter Sam Lane, the event aims to bring women together to ‘accelerate action’ towards gender equality.

Maitland City Council Coordinator Community Participation, Erin Pascall says it will be “a fantastic opportunity for women in our community to network with likeminded individuals and celebrate their achievements.”

“Attendees will hear an inspiring keynote address from sportswriter, presenter and author Sam Lane and unite us all so we can drive awareness of diversity, equity and inclusivity within our community.”

During the event, the winner of the inaugural International Women’s Day Loretta Baker Scholarship will be announced.

The $1,000 scholarship is named in honour of Maitland’s first female Mayor and aims to support young women in Maitland to pursue their goals across a range of sectors including the arts, culture, business, health, sport and more.

The event will take place from 10am to 12pm on Friday 7 March 2025.

While it is a free event, bookings are essential and can be made online by visiting mait.city/International-Womens-Day-Maitland.
