First term councillor Warrick Penfold was raised in Maitland, attending both Maitland Public School and Maitland Boys High. He started work as an apprentice pastry chef at 17 before getting married and moving to Queensland, where he lived for more than 15 years. Warrick then returned to his hometown where he currently lives in East Maitland and has worked in finance for the last 20 years.

As an advocate for mental health and wellbeing, Warrick is keenly involved in support group Dad's in Distress. He's also a motorcycle enthusiast, taking part in the organisation of Maitland Speedway's centennial celebration in 2023 and has a personal interest in Maitland's heritage and history.

Warrick was motivated to run for Council so he can make a difference in the community and be a positive voice for change.

'I love the diversity of Maitland. We have a great balance here; we're close enough to take a day trip to the vineyards or Sydney, but slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the big city. It's the perfect mix of urban and rural life.'
