Apply for sponsorship
Maitland City Council is open to granting sponsorship funding both cash and in kind to community and industry groups, events and organisations that fit within the guiding principles of the Sponsorship Policy, and are located, operating or providing direct benefit within the local government area.
To ensure maximum community benefit, funding of any one initiative/organisation is restricted to one source of funding from Council i.e. an applicant is not eligible for sponsorship if, for example, the applicant has received funding via another funding source of Council.
If you are interested in seeking sponsorship from Council, contact sponsorship@maitland.nsw.gov.au briefly outlining your proposal and it will be reviewed by the relevant department, who will then contact you to discuss the below sponsorship process and provide relevant application forms.
How to apply
Follow our step-by-step process to submit your sponsorship application.
Before applying
Before submitting your application, please contact sponsorship@maitland.nsw.gov.au to check if sponsorship would be a viable solution.
Complete an application form
Submit an application form after reviewing the Sponsorship Policy and Maitland +10.
Application review
Once the application is submitted, we will review and assess the applications considering:
- The level of community interest or significance
- How closely the application addresses the themes in the Maitland +10 Plan
- It’s relevance to the City and community
- The impact and return on investment for Council's brand and reputation.
Please be aware that sponsorships are limited. We receive a large number of applications which meet our guidelines, however we are not able to sponsor them all so your sponsorship request may be declined, or we may offer a lesser amount than requested.
Application decision
Once the assessment has been completed, we will let you know the outcome of the application with a phone call, followed by official correspondence in writing.
All correspondence and announcements for sponsorship should remain in confidence until we come to an agreement together regarding the approach to announce.
Sponsorship agreement
Once we have decided to offer sponsorship, we will enter into a contract (or letter of agreement) with you. This will outline the benefits agreed to, payment terms, performance required and the evaluation methods.
Once the agreement has been confirmed, you can start putting the program or event into action. If you are to receive a financial contribution, you should invoice Council as per the agreed date in the agreement and expect the payment to be made within three (3) weeks.
Complete an acquittal
Once the event or program has been executed, an acquittal must be completed within four (4) weeks afterwards.
We will provide you with an acquittal template, which should be returned to Council along with photography and videos or other agreed upon assets.
After the program or event is completed, we will evaluate the effectiveness of the agreement to meet its objectives which will help with future sponsorship considerations.

Each event comes with a professional marketing campaign, which ensures both the event and event partners receive prominent, prolonged exposure. A dedicated Events Officer will work with you to ensure maximum return on your investment.
