Description
Council proposes to realign the road known as Scobies Lane, Oakhampton. The proposed project site is located approximately 2 km north of Maitland central business district, to the west of the Hunter River and directly east of Walka Water Works reserve.
Scobies Lane is currently the only access road for residents of Oakhampton Heights and is regularly subject to closure during flood events.
Consequently, Council is proposing to realign Scobies Lane to provide a new access road for Oakhampton Heights residents which would reduce the risk of road closures and provide a safer and more reliable access to residents during local flood events.
Stage 1 will include the construction of the foundations for the new access road to Oakhampton Heights and a new intersection with Oakhampton Road. The foundations will also act as an emergency access point during minor flooding.
